The heart behind it
For me, setting boundaries has always been about protection — of my heart, and my energy. When I don't have clear boundaries around what I will and won't allow into my life, my expectations get skewed. My fight-or-flight response activates. I start to panic.
But boundaries also do something quieter: they let us know who we are and what we actually want — so we stop comparing our lives to everyone else's. There's peace in that. Room to actually enjoy your life, and to focus on God's plan for you, not God's plan for someone else.
That's what this day is for.
