about salt & arrows

Hi, I’m Sharon β€” Christian counselor, coach, and the heart behind Salt & Arrows.

short story

WHY I DO THIS WORK

I’ve always believed that women and girls carry a quiet strength the world often overlooks. Not loud, not forceful β€” but steady, Spirit‑led, and resilient.

My work began with a simple conviction: when a woman knows who she is in Christ, she becomes unshakeable.

Over the years, I’ve walked with girls and women through conflict, heartbreak, identity questions, friendship wounds, dating confusion, and the pressure to be β€œfine.”

And I’ve watched them rise β€” not because life got easier, but because they learned how to see themselves through truth, not fear.

My Counseling Approach

Hey, I’m Sharon!

CBT + ACT Foundations‍ ‍

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you notice the patterns between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors β€” and learn how to shift them with clarity and confidence.

I use Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you build emotional flexibility, align with your values, and take steady, meaningful steps forward even when life feels heavy or uncertain. My favorite way to explain ACT is:

β€œIt’s helping people to live a richer, more meaningful life based on what they value while also navigating and acknowledging all the difficult situations that we inevitably go through as human beings.”
— Michael Atkinson

Narrative + Reality‑Based Work

I help girls and women reframe the stories they tell themselves (and honestly stories others have told us) β€” shifting from β€œWhat’s wrong with me?” to β€œWhat’s actually true here?”

We look at patterns, perspectives, and the meaning you’ve attached to your experiences.

This is where clarity begins.

Creative + Expressive Arts Integration‍ ‍

Sometimes words aren’t enough.

I use art‑based processing, visual metaphors, journaling prompts, and expressive tools to help you access what’s deeper than language.

This is especially powerful for those who feel overwhelmed, shut down, or unsure how to express what’s going on inside.

Conflict Navigation

From friendship fallouts to dating confusion to marriage disconnect, I help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface β€” and how to respond with wisdom, boundaries, and emotional steadiness.

I also teach women how to handle conflict without backing down, how to stay graceful in hard conversations, and how to be assertive in a way that protects connection instead of breaking it.

Faith Integration (If You Want It)‍ ‍

I identify as a Christian counselor because my work is shaped by Scripture, prayer, and the belief that God is deeply involved in our healing. I also hold myself to the highest professional standards β€” integrating ACA ethics, ASERVIC competencies, and evidence‑based practices with a warm, relational, human approach.

We can weave Scripture into your goals, end sessions in prayer, and explore how God is shaping your story.

And if you prefer a non‑faith approach, I honor that fully β€” no pressure, no agenda, no weirdness.

Here’s something you might not know though:

Recent research in the Journal of Psychology & Theology found that clients who receive faith‑integrated therapy report higher satisfaction, stronger therapeutic alliance, and better overall outcomes compared to clients receiving strictly secular treatment when faith is personally meaningful to them.

Translation:

When your faith matters to you, bringing it into the room actually helps you heal faster and deeper.

So if you want Jesus in the conversation, He’s in.

If you don’t, we won’t.

Simple.

Human.

Your choice.

A Little More

What I Believe

  • You are stronger than you think.

  • Your story matters β€” and it’s not finished.

  • You can learn from the past without living in it.

  • Resilience grows with truth, not pressure.

  • Boundaries are holy work.

  • Healing is not linear, but it is possible.

  • God is not done forming you.

The Meaning of Salt & Arrows

Salt & Arrows comes from two Scriptures that anchor my work:

Salt β€” β€œHave salt among yourselves…” (Mark 9:50)

Salt represents identity, truth, resilience, and the ability to stay grounded in who God says you are.

Arrows β€” β€œTake the arrows… strike the ground…” (2 Kings 13:18–19)

Arrows represent courage, persistence, and the call to keep going β€” to keep becoming.

Together, they form the heartbeat of this space:

Stay salty. Draw your arrows. Don’t stop becoming.

On a Personal Note

I pray for my clients before, during, and after sessions β€” truly.

I prayed for you even before I knew your name.

My hope is that this becomes a place where you feel seen, safe, and strengthened β€” not rushed, not judged, not pressured.

Just supported as you rise into who God designed you to be.

Take life’s hits and keep on moving forward.

β€œI help people stay steady in the moments that used to knock them sideways β€” because strength isn’t about never feeling it or not letting it hurt, it’s about knowing how to hold yourself through it and getting better because of it.”
